GNV Urban Art LLC achieves national recognition

Americans for the Arts has honored GNV URBAN ART LLC among 50 outstanding public arts projects created in 2018 through the Public Art Network Year in Review program, the only national program that specifically recognizes the most compelling public art. Chosen by public art experts, the roster of selected projects was unveiled at Americans for the Arts’ Annual Convention in Minneapolis. This is the 18th year that Americans for the Arts has recognized public art works.

The GNV URBAN ART LLC is a woman-owned urban art agency based in Gainesville, Florida. It serves as a liaison between artists and community that supports, promotes, and administers outstanding public art events with the goals of beautification, innovation, and raising awareness for positive social change. Iryna Kanishcheva, the Founder and Owner of the company, has developed innovative programming in mural production and artist selection.

“Do you imagine a piece of art when you see a blank wall? I do. I conceptualize a style and philosophy that can be implemented into the design of every our masterpiece and inspire action. I was the founder and curator of several innovative urban art projects. Among them 352walls, the first urban art initiative in North Central Florida; Art United Us, one of the biggest mural projects in the world based in my home country, Ukraine; and GNV URBAN ART LLC, my own urban art agency. Although I work throughout the United States nowadays, I’m proud that my company was formed in Gainesville.”

The most popular recent murals produced by GNV URBAN ART LLC in downtown Gainesville:

  • 3D mural with Italian artist Peeta that visually changes the architecture. Location: 204 W University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. Sponsored by Ryan Frankel.
  • Interactive 3D dual exposure mural with Greek artist Insane51 that reveals different artworks when viewed through the red/blue lenses of 3D glasses. Location: 233 W University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. Sponsored by Bill Bryson.

“The best of public art can challenge, delight, educate, and illuminate. Most of all, public art creates a sense of civic vitality in the cities, towns, and communities we inhabit and visit,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “As these Public Art Network Year in Review selections illustrate, public art has the power to enhance our lives on a scale that little else can. I congratulate the artists and commissioning groups for these community treasures, and I look forward to honoring more great works in the years to come.”
