Chamber conducts national media visit as part of efforts to market Greater Gainesville
In February, several national media representatives toured several companies, incubators and an education institution to gather multiple perspectives on why certain businesses thrive in Greater Gainesville. The tour was divided into two tracks with one focusing on technology companies and the other focusing on life sciences companies. The visit was conducted in support of the Transforming Greater Gainesville Five Year Economic Development Strategy, which calls for efforts to market Greater Gainesville as a premier business and lifestyle destination. Attending journalists included:

- Lexie Metzler, Associate Editor for Medical Design Technology, which engages an audience of design engineering and corporate management professionals, empowering them to elevate the quality and innovation of their development initiatives;
- Mengda Li, writer for Jiefang Daily Group, which produces and distributes Shanghai’s major daily newspaper

Chamber Unveils New, Improved gainesvillechamber.com
The Gainesville Area Chamber recently launched a brand new gainesvillechamber.com. Designed with members in mind, the site enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of Chamber communications, the site is mobile-friendly and offers a clean, streamlined look. The new site is a key component of the Chamber’s 2017 plans to enhance the way it informs and connects members. The launch marks the Chamber’s first website redesign since 2012.
At the new gainesvillechamber.com, members will find popular, familiar areas such as the Chamber’s event calendar, the member directory and Chamber news. For those who prefer to receive weekly updates, the ejournal will continue to hit your inbox every Tuesday morning at 6 a.m., and past issues will remain more readily accessible in a new more streamlined ejournal archive. New features include a brand standards page where Chamber brand assets can be found and downloaded.
Expect to see regular updates and improvements to the new site on an ongoing basis. In the meantime, to familiarize members with the new site, the Chamber will cover a different feature of the new site each week in coming ejournal issues.
