Upward Health Announces Dr. Mark Gold Joins Advisory Board

Upward Health, a leading in-home medical and behavioral primary care provider, is proud to announce that Dr. Mark Gold, world-renowned expert on addiction-related diseases who has worked for 40+ years developing models for understanding the effects of opioids, tobacco, cocaine, alcohol, and other drugs on the brain and behavior, has joined Upward Health as a board advisor. 

Dr. Gold will work closely with Dr. Dennis Mihale, the company’s Chief Medical Officer, and the clinical leadership team to develop and deliver a first-class prevention, education and addiction programs for their patients.

“Dr. Gold has developed research models which have led to groundbreaking treatments for addicts,” said Glen Moller, CEO of Upward Health. “His work has reduced stigma and changed treatment for the millions of people dealing with substance use disorders.  Collaborating with Dr. Gold to help shape our programs will be a game changer for Upward Health and the patients and clients we serve.”

Dr. Gold is the 17th University of Florida Distinguished Alumni Professor and former Distinguished Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Florida. He was selected as the University of Florida’s 17th Distinguished Alumni Professor in 2011. Prior to assuming the position as Chair, he was a Distinguished Service Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Anesthesiology, and Community Health & Family Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Gold is the author of over 1,000 peer reviewed scientific papers, books and medical practice guidelines in Addiction and Psychiatric Medicine. Currently, he is a Professor (Adjunct) at Washington University in St Louis and active member of the National Council at Washington University’s Institute for Public Health working to develop innovative and distinctive approach to public health research and training.
