UF-Led Team Selected for Energy Project

A University of Florida-led research team was selected to participate in a five-year, $125 million energy project known as the Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Center (JCERDC). The project, which involves the United States and India, is designed to reduce energy consumption, cut dependence on petroleum products and increase the use of renewable fuels.

The team will develop biofuels derived from inedible plant material. Total funding for the project is approximately $21 million, including $2.7 million in federal funding for UF.
