Ronald McDonald House receives $100,000 gift

To mark National Volunteer Week, Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida (RMHCNCF) has announced the donation of a $100,000 gift from an anonymous donor in honor of donor’s granddaughter’s volunteer service at the organization as a college student.

The gift will provide the house, located at 1600 SW 14th St., an updated reception desk, secured mail boxes, new seating and a digital announcement monitor. The organization said these amenities will provide comfort to families staying at the facility, which serves as their home-away-from-home while their critically ill child is being treated at nearby hospitals.

“When completed, our lobby will help families regain a sense of normalcy and transition them from the time spent at the hospital with their children,” said Melissa Tyrone, RMHCNCF executive director. “When families arrive, they’re often traumatized and exhausted. We help them cope with the stress that having a child with a serious illness brings. Thanks to this anonymous donor, thousands of individuals who stay, work and volunteer in our house will feel the impact of this gift.”
