Peng’s “Ken Eats Gainesville” column to premier next month

Ken Peng, a local food blogger and critic with the title “Ken Eats Gainesville”, will begin writing a food column for the Business Report of North Central Florida next month.

Peng has lived in Gainesville for the last 12 years, originally hailing from Pembroke Pines. He is a proud Gator alum, who enjoys exploring new restaurants and foods while he’s not at his day job in the finance industry.

Growing up around a family in the food industry, Peng was exposed to a variety of foods at his father’s Asian market at a young age, and has traveled throughout North America and Asia. What began as a Facebook page to pass the time in between jobs, grew to almost 6,000 connections before launching a stand-alone site in June 2014.

Today, Peng has over 17,000 followers on Facebook, 5,000 on Instagram, and his website averages 200 visitors a day. Unfiltered, honest, and not afraid to tell it like it is, KEG has gained popularity for its willingness to express its opinion.

“We look forward to this partnership with Ken and believe our readers will enjoy his insights into the local food industry”, says Scott Schroeder, publisher of the Business Report of North Central Florida.

Through the blog’s success, Peng has spoken at the Innovate Gainesville Economic Forum, with the UF students with the Society of Professional Journalists, the UF Culinary Arts Student Union, and Hume Honors College. As an advocate of Gainesville’s growth and emerging culinary scene, he has built countless relationships with local business owners, government officials, and real estate professionals to facilitate progress in the food and drink industry.
