On the move

Lucinda Lavelli, dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Florida, was recently honored with the 2013 Professional Achievement Award from the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University. The nominating committee noted Lavelli’s career of service to the arts and dance as well as her commitment to the integration of technology into curricula to support creativity and promote interdisciplinary projects incorporating the arts. Lavelli has served as dean of the College of Fine Arts since 2006.

UF College of Journalism and Communications Advertising Professor Michael Weigold has been named Director of Distance Education for the college. Weigold also serves as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Affairs and Enrollment Management for the college, and spearheaded the development of the college’s first online master’s degree, the MAMC – Web Design and Online Communications.

Gainesville City Commissioner Susan Bottcher has graduated from the inaugural class of the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials III: The Leadership Challenge, designed to educate newly elected officials on the intricacies of municipal government in a cost-effective manner.

Mitch Glaeser has been selected to stay on as the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2014. Chamber President and CEO Tim Giuliani said the extension was the result of the Board’s desire to continue the momentum of key initiatives that started in late 2013.

Hardeep Gulati, the previous COO of SumTotal Systems, LLC, has been named the new CEO of the company. Gulati joined SumTotal in 2011 as the executive vice president of global products and customer service. Gulati most recently oversaw the launch of SumTotal’s human capital management and Talent Expansion platform, elixHR.
