The Nationwide Foundation has awarded United Way of North Central Florida (UWNCFL) a $35,000 grant to the United We Care Emergency Relief fund to help combat the effects of COVID-19 for local community members.
“Nationwide has partnered with United Way of North Central Florida for many years and we’re pleased to be able to give to such a worthy cause,” said Greg Moraski, Nationwide Associate Vice President and UWNCFL Board Member. “Giving to United Way is always an easy decision since we know that the dollars will go to where they are most needed in the community.”
In March, UWNCFL launched their United We Care Emergency Relief fund to support nonprofit Community Impact Partners who are helping community members affected by COVID-19 by providing assistance with rent, utilities, food, toiletries and gas (as needed).
So far 10 local organizations have received grants through the fund including Child Advocacy Center, Catholic Charities, Early Learning Coalition, Episcopal Children’s Services, GACTA – Aces in Motion, Gainesville Opportunity Center, Pace Center for Girls, Peaceful Paths, Partnership for Strong Families and St. Francis House.
“Alongside the Community Foundation, we are continuing to assess the community’s needs and plan to grant additional available funds from United We Care to our partners,” said Mona Gil de Gibaja, UWNCFL President & CEO. “This generous gift from Nationwide will help keep community members fed, housed and safe during this trying time.”
