A GRU load-profiling service, which helps large business customers monitor energy use, is producing dramatic reductions in electricity use.
The service collects data during a 24-hour period through special meters to show customers how much electricity is being used each day and what times during the day usage is highest.
Using the data, Naylor publishing in Gainesville reduced its overall electricity use by 39 percent and peak demand by 13 percent, providing average bill savings of $10,000 to $15,000 per month.
The load-profiling service is best suited for large business customers that spend $5,000 or more a month on electricity per meter. The service costs $45 per month for each meter, and there is a $100 initial setup fee. Interested businesses should contact GRU’s Energy and Business Services Department at 352-393-1460.
