Scenthound, Gainesville’s first wellness-focused routine care and dog grooming company, is celebrating one year in business at Publix Market Square in southwest Gainesville. A second Alachua County location is coming soon to the Millhopper area to keep up with the growing demand for Scenthound’s routine care services.
Since opening last May, Scenthound’s Gainesville SW location has served over 1,200 dogs, helping dog parents maintain the basic hygiene and grooming routine their fur families need to stay clean and healthy.
“We are thrilled with the Gainesville community’s response to our services. Focusing on the overall health of our pets by providing routine, proactive care is at the core of what Scenthound offers,” said Joseph Pizzurro, Scenthound’s franchise partner in north central Florida.
Scenthound provides membership-based routine care centered on the five core areas of maintenance all dogs need — Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth (SCENT). Memberships include a monthly basic hygiene package consisting of a bath, ear cleaning, nail clip and teeth brushing, plus discounts on additional services like haircuts, shedding treatments, medicated baths, and plaque reduction treatments.
Scenthound’s love for dogs goes beyond serving its members; they also work closely with local rescue and foster groups to care for dogs that may not have received the regular maintenance they need to look and feel their best.
“Dog First is one of Scenthound’s core values. Working with the folks at the Humane Society of North Central Florida (HSNCFL), Haile’s Angels, and Grace Marketplace allows us to care for dogs who are truly deserving of extra love, attention, and care,” added Pizzurro.

In addition to providing emergency hygiene and grooming in rescue situations, Scenthound launched the Clean Start Program. Clean Start rewards adoptive dog parents from the Humane Society or Haile’s Angels with a free basic hygiene service so their new pup can join their forever families with a fresh, clean start.
