Local Communications Professionals are Recognized at the 2015 Local Image Awards

FPRA Gainesville awarded community practitioners for their excellence in the field

The Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), the oldest public relations organization in the United States, awarded the industry’s most skilled communications professionals in north central Florida at the 2015 Gainesville Chapter’s Local Image Awards Competition. The ceremony took place at the historic Hippodrome Theatre. Throughout the night, distinguished FPRA members and public relations practitioners from across the community were also awarded for their commitment and advancement in the field.

Professionals who were recognized for the dedication and growth in the industry include:

  • Member of the Year: Scott Schroeder, VP Operations, Liquid Creative Studio
  • John Detweiler, Ed.D., APR, CPRC, Professional of the Year: Denise Feiber, APR, Public Information Director, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Plant Industry (FDACS-DPI)
  • Rising Star of the Year: Alisha Kinman, Director of Development & Cinema, Hippodrome Theatre

Conducted annually, the Image Awards competition provides PR practitioners a platform to be recognized in their home markets for their outstanding public relations tools and programs in four divisions including Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual/Online Tools of Public Relations and Student Projects in Public Relations. Within these divisions are multiple categories. Entries are judged based on their extensive research, planning, implementation, and execution of public relations campaigns.

Judges’ Award:

Jenn Petion and Patty Carol received a Judges’ Award and an Award of Distinction for the Partnership for Strong Families’ 30 Days of Amazing Local Kids campaign. Category 2: Public Service

Jenn Petion, Michelle Kidney, and Patty Carroll received an  Award of Distinction for Partnership for Strong Families’ Wish Upon a Star Toy Drive. Category 9: Special Events

Ginny Lawrimore, Laura Hogan, and Brandon Shuk received a Judges’ Award for Gator 100 Social Media. Category 7: Promotional/Marketing

Leah Craig and Holly Franklin received an Image Award, Judges’ Award and the Grand All Image Award for the University of Florida School of Music The Phantom of the Opera. Category 7: Promotional/Marketing

Allison Alsup, Marionne Gapuz, and Alisha Kinman received an Image Award and Judges’ Award for Cocktails & Classics at the Hipp. Category 10: Other

RTI Surgical Corporate Communications received an Image Award and a Judges’ Award for the RTI Surgical 2014 Corporate Video. Category 8: Video – Institutional
