Lee Property Hickory Sink Strategic Ecosystem Special Area Study Meeting Postponed

The Alachua County Commission meeting on the Lee Property/Hickory Sink Strategic Ecosystem Special Area Study scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5 p.m. has been postponed. It will be rescheduled for a date to be determined.  

 

Alachua County will announce when the County Commission meeting on this item is rescheduled and will provide additional notice of the meeting date and time via U.S. mail, email, newspaper advertisement, and other available communication channels.

 

The site that is the subject of the Special Area Study is shown in the above image and encompasses much of the “Hickory Sink” Strategic Ecosystem as designated in the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan. Therefore, a special area planning process is required to be completed before any development on the site. The purpose of the Special Area Study is to provide a detailed natural resources assessment of the Strategic Ecosystem and delineation of conservation areas for permanent protection in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan. The Special Area Study also evaluates potential development scenarios for the property and related infrastructure considerations.
