Last Day to Apply for Updated GRU Rebate Programs is Sept. 16

Effective Oct. 1, Gainesville Regional Utilities will no longer be offering several of its residential and business rebate programs, including the duct testing rebate, added insulation rebate and the pool pump rebate, pending final Gainesville City Commission approval.

The last day to submit completed rebate applications for the remaining programs is Monday, Sept. 16.

“Since 2005, GRU has spent about $27.8 million on energy-efficiency and solar rebate programs to help customers save energy, lower their bills and help the City meet its carbon reduction goals,” said GRU spokesperson Amelia Bell in an email.

“With the success of these programs and improvements in Florida’s Energy Codes, we are shifting our focus away from rebates and toward helping customers better understand the benefits conservation efforts,” she said. “Our plans include increasing and improving energy surveys, visiting more groups to promote conservation and efficiency savings, and offering more educational workshops to both our customers and partners.”
