GCRA Hosting Community Meetings for Creation of 10-Year Plan

The City of Gainesville is hosting a series of public workshops to help inform the work of the newly created Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area (GCRA) over the course of the next ten years. The meetings will be held the week of November 4 in each of the four previous community redevelopment areas – Eastside, Fifth Ave Pleasant Street, Downtown and College Park University Heights.

All meetings are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Meetings dates and locations are as follows:

  • Monday, Nov. 4 (Former Eastside District) in the John Dukes Cafeteria at the Duval Early Learning Academy, 2106 NE Eighth Ave.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5 (Former Fifth Ave Pleasant Street District) in the downstairs space of the Gainesville CRA Building, 802 NW Fifth Ave., Suite 100.
  • Wednesday Nov. 6 (Former Downtown District) at the Historic Depot Building Event Space, 201 SE Depot Ave.
  • Thursday Nov. 7 (Former College Park University Heights District) at the Holiday Inn University Center, 1250 W. University Ave.

The final step in the creation of the new Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area is the consolidation of the four existing redevelopment plans into a single “Reinvestment Plan.” The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas on how the GCRA can best serve the community. Childcare and refreshments will be provided.

Interested parties may fill out the online survey by following the link on the homepage of the GCRA website, at www.gainesvillecra.com. The survey responses will help to guide the plan consolidation and gives citizens the chance to share what the most important aspects of our work in Gainesville should be.
