Gainesville PR professionals honored

The Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) bestowed three awards given annually to acknowledge key members for their chapter and professional contributions, along with six awards presented as part of the group’s 2021 Image Awards competition.

Held each year by Florida’s local FPRA chapters, the Image Awards recognize excellence in the public relations profession.

The 2021 Image Award winners and awards were:

The chapter also recognized its 2020-21 Rising Star of the Year, Member of the Year and John S. Detweiler, Ed.D., APR, CPRC Professional of the Year. Each award is given annually to three distinguished members who go above and beyond to promote the chapter and the public relations profession in the Gainesville community. The honorees were:

  • Rising Star of the Year: Megan Kimmel Macpherson (Associate Director, UF College of Medicine, UF Health Communications)
  • Member of the Year: Allison Downey, APR, CPRC (Marketing Communications Manager, Exactech)
  • John S. Detweiler, Ed.D., APR, CPRC, Professional of the Year Award: Spiro Kiousis, Ph.D., APR (Interim Dean/Executive Associate Dean and Professor, Department of Public Relations, UF College of Journalism and Communications)
