Foresight, The Rock of Gainesville Break Ground on New Worship Facility

Foresight, a diversified construction management firm, recently broke ground on a new worship facility for The Rock of Gainesville, a family centered nondenominational church currently located on SW 24th Avenue.

Foresight is the construction management firm for the church’s new 27,669 SF north campus worship facility on W. Newberry Road that will include a state-of-the-art worship center, classroom wing, multipurpose meeting spaces and a café area in the lobby. The project is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2020.

The master site plan includes entrance drives from Newberry Road, a covered drop off area, paved and grass parking, a paved service yard, a fountain area and a prayer trail. Construction activities will include modifications to the traffic pattern on Newberry Road in front of the site to accommodate the increased traffic load.

The Rock School will remain in its current location on SW 24th Avenue. The church’s expansion into a new facility will enable the school to grow and serve more students.

“We’re thrilled to be performing this project for The Rock of Gainesville along with our design partners Walker Architects, CHW, Wayland Structural Engineering and Moses Engineering,” Juan Segarra, Foresight president and CEO, said. “It’s exciting to be part of such a historic project for the church, one that will serve the community for many generations to come. It has been a vision for The Rock of Gainesville for a long time but is now coming into focus.”

At the groundbreaking, Lead Pastor George Brantley spoke of the significance of the new facility to more than 300 people, surrounded by team pastors, the church community and representatives from the design and construction firms.

“Twenty-two years ago we bought this land,” Brantley said. “Over the years the project has stalled for one reason or another, so this is a huge thing, and we are tremendously excited about this next step.”

The group that officially broke ground included Brantley and his wife Suzanne, who is also a pastor; Segarra; Rory Causseaux, founder of CHW; and Ken Lutz, architect and project manager at Walker Architects.
