Economist Rebecca Ryan to Speak at iG Economic Forum

“What’s Next?” continues to be the theme of economic development in Alachua County as community and business leaders wade through possible solutions for questions focused on talent retention and targeted industries.

To help transition the community into the next phase of economic strategies, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce has invited economist Rebecca Ryan, also a speaker on the national circuit and renowned author, to be the featured keynote speaker at the iG Regional Economic Forum to be held June 27.

As the founder of Next Generation Consulting, Ryan works with clients to design strategies focused on retaining young, future leaders. She has helped cities including Nashville, Milwaukee and Columbus, Ohio, to design award-winning workforce strategies focused on young professional recruitment and retention.

“It’s no secret that one of the keys of economic success in our region is the retention of our talent being developed here by our exceptional educational institutions,” said Tim Giuliani, president and CEO of the Chamber and Council for Economic Outreach. “With Rebecca Ryan’s unique style of speaking and engaging her audience, she will provide inspiration for immediate collaboration in our community to retain our talent and grow our economy; one of the main focuses of our next phase of iG.”

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s iG Regional Economic Forum will take place June 27 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall. The event is open to the public and tickets are available at GainesvilleChamber.com/iGForum2013.
