Compete in the Third Annual Investor Business Pitch ShootOut

The Gainesville Area Innovation Network is now accepting applications from startups for the Third Annual Investor Business Pitch ShootOut.

The event will take place on Oct. 28 from 12:30pm to 9pm at the Harn Museum of Art. There’s room for only 16 companies so interested applicants should apply at www. GAINnet.org/ as soon as possible..

Participating startups will be able to present their company’s business plan to and network with a panel of investors during a one-hour presentation, and mingle with the entrepreneurial community.

Participants will be competing for $5,000 in cash, prizes and free services. The four highest scoring companies will compete for the TOP GUN designation for 2013.

The event will also feature educational panels on startup funding strategies, finding support in business incubators and building business through social media (presented by national speaker Pamela Star, Constant Contact).

Through Sept. 24 there is no application fee for GAIN stakeholders and $35 fee for non-stakeholders. On Sept. 25 the fees jump to $15 and $50 respectively.

A GAIN selection committee will choose the applicants they feel are most suited to the competition, said GAIN Executive Director Lee May.

“The value of the GAIN ShootOut is that they will receive honest feedback after their presentations that will allow them to further develop their presentations,” she said. “And they’ll be able to make contact with people interested in investing.”
