Six-weeks program includes visits to departments

Residents or students interested in a crash course on local government need look no further than the City of Gainesville itself.

Gainesville 101: the Spring 2013 Citizens’ Academy, a six-week program organized by the city’s Communications Office, is designed to teach city residents about the inner workings of local government.

Participants will go behind the scenes and experience the operations of city departments that provide services.

Classes begin Wednesday, March 13, and meet every Wednesday for the next six weeks. All sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at various locations throughout the city, such as the Public Works Compound and Morningside Nature Center.

For more information, please visit the Citizens’ Academy page here, email [email protected] or call the Communications Office at 352-334-5017.
