Chamber conducts national media visit as part of efforts to market Greater Gainesville

In February, several national media representatives toured several companies, incubators and an education institution to gather multiple perspectives on why certain businesses thrive in Greater Gainesville. The tour was divided into two tracks with one focusing on technology companies and the other focusing on life sciences companies. The visit was conducted in support of the Transforming Greater Gainesville Five Year Economic Development Strategy, which calls for efforts to market Greater Gainesville as a premier business and lifestyle destination. Attending journalists included:

  • Frank Ohlhorst, an award winning technology journalist and IT industry analyst who writes for industry leading publications such as GigaOm, Industry Week, CIO and more;
  • Lexie Metzler, Associate Editor for Medical Design Technology, which engages an audience of design engineering and corporate management professionals, empowering them to elevate the quality and innovation of their development initiatives;
  • Mengda Li, writer for Jiefang Daily Group, which produces and distributes Shanghai’s major daily newspaper
