The Gainesville Council for Economic Outreach (CEO) has exceeded the fundraising goal for its upcoming five-year program, generating a total of $3.4 million.
CEO had set a goal of $3.3 million for initiative MOMENTUM 2015, an economic development program designed to attract new industry and business, support entrepreneurial ventures, help expanding businesses and create better employment opportunities.
Momentum 2015 is the result of a strategic plan crafted by a broad cross-section of public and private sector leaders in the Gainesville/Alachua County area. It focuses on three primary areas of concern:
• Growing New Business through Entrepreneurship and Innovation
• Expansion/Retention of Existing Business
• Marketing and Attraction of New Business
Tommy McIntosh, the head of Prudential Trend Realty and Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce chairman for 2011, thanked Tom Mallini of M&S Bank and Win Phillips of the University of Florida for overseeing the drive.
