Come December, Butler Plaza will be home to Gigi’s Cupcakes, a gourmet cupcake boutique, alongside the already announced BurgerFi and WhichWich. The store will be located in the redevelopment site currently under construction at 3524 SW Archer Road.
Gigi’s Cupcakes offers more than 90 unique recipes, including flavors like “Hunka Chunka Banana Love”, a banana nut cake with dark chocolate chips topped with a banana butter cream frosting dipped in ganache. The weekly menu can be found on the company’s website, www.gigiscupcakesusa.com, with 10 flavors rotating daily. Customers will be able to place orders online as well as shop in the store.
The shop will offer full-size cupcakes, mini cupcakes and cheesecakes. Three gluten-free cupcake flavors will be available on Fridays. The Company also offers customized cupcake wedding tiers complete with a cutting cake.
Gigi’s Cupcakes currently has 84 locations in 23 states. This is the sixth location in Florida, following Sarasota, Tallahassee, Orlando and two locations in Tampa. This is the first location in Gainesville and the first store opened by Nicole Rollins, a 20-year Gainesville resident, and her husband, Eric.
“My husband brought a dozen gorgeous Gigi’s Cupcakes home from Alabama a little over a year ago,” Rollins said in an email. “I was like a kid for the very first time in a candy store! Even the box and bag they came in were pretty. From that very moment I was in love with the product and the concept behind it.”
Rollins said she chose Butler Plaza for the shop because of her memories of celebrating with family while dining out on Archer Road.
“In my family we call the area on Archer Road with all of the restaurants “Restaurant Row,” she said. “My dream is that all those celebrating with their family and friends pop into Gigi’s Cupcakes and continue to spread the joy.”
“Nicole and Eric create a great recipe for success in our community with their passion and local roots,” said Kathy Ward-Darin, director of leasing for Butler Enterprises. “We are happy that they chose Butler Plaza.”
