The Village selects James F. Painter to Chair senior living community’s Corporate Advisory Board

Former Gainesville mayor and lifelong business entrepreneur James F. Painter will lead the Corporate Advisory Board for “The Village,” Gainesville’s SantaFe Senior Living Community.

As Gainesville’s mayor and city commissioner, Mr. Painter’s public service drew from his immense experience collected over 40 years of private enterprise. In addition to owning Painter Masonry, Mr. Painter’s résumé includes service in several industry groups, most recently as executive director of the Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council. Mr. Painter is also one of the longest-serving board members at CareerSource North Central Florida, was named Builder of the Year and still sits on the boards for Florida Home Builders Association and Santa Fe College Foundation, among other volunteer efforts.

“Mr. Painter brings the perfect mix of public service, private business and community vision to this important role,” said SantaFe HealthCare President and CEO Michael P. Gallagher. “His leadership and experience will help strengthen the high-quality services provided to the residents of The Village and the community interests that surround them.”

Composed of local accomplished leaders and experts, The Village’s Corporate Advisory Board offers innovative advice and dynamic perspectives regarding the business, economic, social and civic environment of the Gainesville area. The Village Leadership then uses the Board’s counsel to inform strategic direction, guide quality improvement, and assess organizational effectiveness in advancing The Village’s not-for-profit mission to enrich the lives of each senior we serve.

“As an affiliate of SantaFe HealthCare, The Village is unique in that its mission also helps fulfill SantaFe’s broader mission of providing care for Floridians through all stages of life,” stated Mr. Painter, referencing the continuum formed by SantaFe’s Affiliates – AvMed’s health plans, SantaFe Senior Living’s retirement communities, and the compassionate end-of-life and palliative care provided by Haven Hospice and VNA/Hospice of the Florida Keys.

“I’m honored to serve and appreciate the opportunity to lead a highly-engaged Corporate Advisory Board, furthering the vision of Leveda Brown, former Alachua County Board of Commissions Chair, who also chaired The Village’s Corporate Advisory Board for the past six years,” said Painter.
