Publishers Note | February

There are few times that we as business owners and managers have an opportunity to stop and reflect on our achievements. In reality, most that I know set high goals and then expect to achieve them leaving little opportunity for celebration. Exceeding expectation is the expectation. For me, I recently had one of those rare moments where I was able to actually pause and feel proud. It was quite an amazing feeling. In fact, it is the first time that I have invited my family to Gainesville to celebrate and participate in something that I have accomplished professionally.

We have moved into our new office space on South Main Street and it really is fantastic. The renovation turned out even better than I could have imagined and now that we are getting settled in I can’t say enough about the team at Perry Roofing, owner Keith Perry and his staff.

As owner of the building, Keith has been great to work with. He and his team put forth an unimaginable effort to get the building renovation wrapped up in time for us to move in during the last weekend of the year and the work is really beautiful. We can’t wait to show it off.

I am especially appreciative of our staff, my daughter Madison and her friend Trent for being so helpful in moving everything over from our old office to our new space while we were on vacation. It took a total team effort to get everything moved over and set up during the holidays. Great teams work together to make amazing things happen.

In our business we don’t have the luxury of putting day to day projects on hold, so for the first few weeks we worked nights and weekends to get the office completely functional.

We didn’t get to feel the full impact of our project until just this past weekend, however. Our partners, The Gainesville Fine Arts Association, worked equally hard to get their gallery space prepped in anticipation of their first showing to their membership. It was a fantastic evening with over 100 pieces of art on display and over 70 local artists getting their first glimpse of our combined office space/gallery. When we first pitched this concept I am pretty sure we had some skeptics. We have made believers out of them now though.

We are looking forward to opening up our space to friends in the next few months as we put on the finishing touches. I hope that you enjoy the space as much as we do.

Have a fun and successful February!
