Leah Craig, formerly the corporate communications specialist at RTI Surgical, has accepted the position of Marketing and Public Relations Manager for the UF College of Fine Arts. Craig is a member and past board member of the Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. She is a freelance writer for local lifestyle publications, has received numerous awards for her work and was named the Florida Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s 2011 Rising Star.

Paul Donnelly, of Donnelly & Gross, P.A., has been inducted as a College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Fellow. Election as a Fellow is the highest recognition by one’s colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence. Donnelly, a long-time UF adjunct professor, does precedent-setting work in Florida for fire, police and government service unions, and defends businesses in employment claims.

Thomas Beaver, M.D., M.P.H., has been named the new chief of the division of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at UF Health, within the UF College of medicine’s department of surgery. Beaver is a professor of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, holds an endowed chair position in the department of surgery and has a joint appointment in the department of anesthesiology’s division of cardiovascular anesthesia.

Bruce C. Wheeler, professor in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Wheeler was chosen for contributions to in vitro neural engineering technology and research, to the development of biomedical engineering departments and to engineering education.
