Gainesville Area Chamber Announces 2017 Business Awards Winners

Nine winners selected by a panel of local business owners and operators from more than 50 applicants

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and presenting sponsor SunTrust Bank announced the Business Awards winners for 2017. The Chamber annually honors businesses for their role in helping our region advance toward a vision of Greater Gainesville as a global hub of talent, innovation, and opportunity. To be considered for a Business Award, the organization must stand-out for excellence and innovation within business practices and community involvement.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to recognize the 2017 Businesses of the Year,” said Chamber President/CEO Susan Davenport. “Today’s recipients are among Greater Gainesville’s premier businesses, and have demonstrated their commitment to excellence, innovation and community involvement.”

Winners include:

2017 Commitment to the Environment Award: First Magnitude Brewing Company

2017 Leading Women’s Enterprise: Eat the 80

2017 Startup Business of the Year: Rabell Realty Group

2017 Tech Company of the Year: Info Tech

With 1,300 members, more than 50 nominees, and only nine awards, competition for this year’s Business Awards was highly competitive. Each application was reviewed three times by a panel of judges composed of fellow members of the Chamber. Judges critiqued applicants in six areas of assessment ranging from strength of business plan to level of community involvement.
