Financial Advisor Suze Orman to Give Vet School Commencement Speech

The graduates of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine will welcome a distinguished speaker during their commencement ceremony Saturday at the Curtis M. Phillips Center from 2 to 4 p.m.

Bestselling author Suze Orman will give the commencement address for the 2013 veterinary graduates. Besides being a successful author, Orman is also a financial advisor, renowned motivational speaker and two-time Emmy winning television host.

Orman’s niece, Katelyn Stender, will be among the 87 graduating seniors, according to Sarah Carey, director of public relations for the veterinary program.

Currently, veterinary student debt averages around $150,000, according to the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. During her keynote address, Orman will discuss the value of obtaining a veterinary degree in today’s world. She will also discuss important financial strategy that will help students understand the importance of managing student debt, according to the news release.

After the ceremony, Orman will be available for brief interviews.
