Chamber’s Ramsey Joining Mississippi Development Authority

By: Chris Eversole

The Mississippi Development Authority has hired David Ramsey as its global business director.

Ramsey, who has been the vice president of economic development of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Council for Economic Outreach, will be working with Brent Christensen, the chamber’s former president & CEO, who is now executive director of the Mississippi organization.

Ramsey has been with the Chamber and CEO for nearly nine years. “David has been a tremendous asset for our economic development initiatives here in Gainesville, and his leadership has helped create numerous accomplishments for our area,” says Chamber Chairman Mitch Glaeser.

“Being reunited with Brent, David will bring the State of Mississippi the same passion, expertise and drive he has provided us over the years and will help the MDA emulate the same success we have enjoyed here in the Gainesville region.”

Ramsey played a major role in recruiting and growing more than 850 new jobs for the area since 2010 through firms such as Mindtree, Prioria Robotics, RegisterPatient, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Silver Airways.

Christensen says he’s glad to have Ramsey join his team. “David has a proven economic development track record in Gainesville and Florida, and he will be a valuable addition as we continue to grow new jobs and opportunities in Mississippi.”
