Gainesville, Florida – March 2016 – Active Streets Alliance, an organization that started in Gainesville to support more equitable access to our community’s public spaces, will hold their latest event this Sunday.

Active Streets Gainesville is a free community event that will be held on Sunday, April 3rd from 11am – 3pm on University Avenue from W 6th St. to NE Blvd. The street will be closed off to motorized vehicles to transform the iconic roadway into a dynamic destination hosting an array of activities, entertainment and food vendors. Businesses, organizations and individuals can participate by providing supplies or leading group activities that promote an active lifestyle.

The mission of Active Streets Alliance is to provide and promote vibrant community-led events that activate local streets. Executive Director Joseph Floyd encourages the community to attend Active Streets Gainesville this Sunday, as he says there will be something there for everyone to enjoy.

“This event will be a day of activities, food, entertainment and much more. It’s going to be a ton of fun for the whole family and we hope everyone comes out to enjoy the day and to show support for community events like this one, which are so important for Gainesville,” said Floyd.

Active Streets Gainesville is Presented by Liquid Creative and Sponsored by Active Streets Alliance, The City of Gainesville and Genius Entertainment. For more information on the event, visit activestreetsalliance.org.
